A magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck northern Philippines on Tuesday, injuring five people and damaging infrastructure.

Footage shows a chandelier shaking as the tremor rocked homes in Ballesteros town, Cagayan province, on September 12 evening.

Philippine seismological agency PHIVOLCS said the quake struck 19 kilometres northwest of Dalupiri Island in Cagayan province at 7:30 pm on September 12. It was recorded at a depth of 29 kilometres.

Local disaster officials said five people were injured when a wall in their home collapsed during the earthquake. The wounded were rushed to a hospital and are now in a safe condition.

The Philippines Office of Civil Defense reported on September 14 that the quake had caused 44.6 million PHP (784,000 USD) in infrastructural damages.

The Philippines is an archipelago of more than 7,000 islands inside the Pacific 'Ring of Fire' where the majority of Earth's volcano eruptions and earthquakes happen.
