A girl got her hand trapped in the door of an elevator in central China.

CCTV footage filmed in the city of Enshi in Hubei Province on September 11, shows a girl carried by her mother repeatedly pressing buttons on the elevator's panel.

When the door slid open on the ground floor and the woman was stepping out with her child, the girl suddenly stretched out her hand to touch the side of the door and got her hand trapped inside.

The quick-thinking security guard of the residential complex, Mr Tan, witnessed the harrowing scene unfold on the surveillance camera. Without a moment's hesitation, he sprinted to the scene.

According to Tan, he couldn't shut the elevator door, fearing it might cause additional harm to the child. But he was also concerned that if her fingers remained trapped for an extended period, it could lead to severe injuries.

Putting his strength to the test, Tan attempted to pry the doors apart. After what felt like an eternity, a small gap appeared and the child's hand was finally freed.

Miraculously, the young girl suffered no serious harm.
