Russia has claimed that it has destroyed a Ukrainian stronghold near Liman using Su-25SM fighter jets.

The footage purports to show the aircraft being prepared for take-off before they can be seen taking to the skies from an undisclosed location.

The two fighter jets can then be seen flying low over some countryside before opening fire on unseen targets and taking a base of action.

The footage then appears to show the aircraft coming in to land back at base.

The images were obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defence on Friday, September 15, along with a statement claiming: 'The crews of Su-25SM attack aircraft from the Central Military District carried out a combat mission to destroy a Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) strongpoint in the area of a special military operation on the Krasnolimansk direction.

'Navigating the terrain at a speed of approximately 800 km/h and at an extremely low altitude of 20 meters, the pilots of the attack aircraft targeted another UAF strongpoint with the launch of aviation unguided rockets.

'The strike was carried out using high-explosive fragmentation munitions, which are effective for engaging area targets, enemy personnel, and light fortifications.

'After employing the aviation munitions, the pilots conducted evasive manoeuvres and returned to the base aerodrome to prepare for the next combat sortie.

'The aerial fire support provided by the aviation units of the "Center" group enables the military personnel to successfully carry out their assigned combat tasks in holding the entrusted positions on the line of contact.'

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
