STORYLINE:
The Hangzhou Asian Games will be held from Sept. 23 to Oct. 8.
It's set to be the largest edition ever, with 12,500 athletes from 45 countries and regions competing in 40 sports, 61 disciplines, and 481 events.
During a recent youth exchange event held in Beijing, a German sports expert said the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games highlights China's commitment to opening-up.
SOUNDBITE (English): ANDRA PRIEDNIECE, Consultant of international youth cooperation of Sports Youth Brandenburg
"I think this (Hangzhou Asian Games) is firstly the message to open up, (and the message of) "we are a great host country," "we welcome all of you to come here." But also I think it's even a great opportunity for the nation, for the inhabitants of the city and neighboring cities to come and visit the Games.
And also it's kind of opening up from the other side. Come and see, and maybe you will also collect more experience and learn from this experience something.
I think if you visit this competition, you will see a high level of competition and see records breaking. I think it's just a big show."
Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Beijing.
