Officials from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) came to the rescue of 105 residents who were trapped in a low-lying flooded area in western India's Gujarat.

Footage from September 17 shows the NDRF workers using rafts to reach the stranded locals in Nikora.

Of the 105, 74 were women, 14 were men, and 17 were children.

This happened in Nikora village of Bharuch district of the state on September 17.

Visuals showed the whole place which was left completely flooded with houses and other structures submerged. The NDRF officials used boats to rescue the people from this area. They were seen holding on to one of these boats as people made their way into safety. As per a report, the NDRF acted upon receiving information about this village and evacuated a total of 105 people, out of which 74 were women, 14 men and 17 children.

Several villages in Bharuch have been put on high alert due to the rising water level of the Narmada river. The water level in Narmada rose as a result of heavy rainfall in Madhya Pradesh and also because of the amount of water released from the Sardar Sarovar dam into the river. Several trains have also been cancelled or diverted as a result.
