"Guess what brought me to this watery region in east China's Zhejiang? Besides the main host city Hangzhou, this year's Asian Games will also be staged in neighboring cities, including Shaoxing."

Situated in the south of the Yangtze River Delta, Shaoxing is known as one of the most famous water towns in China.

The design of Shaoxing Baseball & Softball Sports Center draws inspiration from silk, a quintessential cultural element of the city.

SOUNDBITE 1 (Chinese): CHEN YUEWEI, Director, News Center of Shaoxing Baseball & Softball Sports Center
"Look at the roof. Its design is inspired by the water town of Shaoxing. Its shape resembles a wave board. It has a self-cleaning function. Nanotechnology has been used in its coatings. There's a drainage system under this artificial turf. It allows athletes to play games even if it rains."

STANDUP 2 (English): YU JIAMING, Xinhua correspondent
"The Shaoxing Baseball & Softball Sports Center, serving as the main venue for the baseball and softball competitions of the 19th Asian Games, will continue to serve the locals after the Games."
