In a dramatic and life-saving operation, police officers rescued two residents trapped in a fully engulfed house fire. The incident reportedly occurred in Algona, Washington, on September 10, 2023.

Body-worn camera footage captured the intense rescue. While three occupants had already managed to escape the burning house, two individuals were still trapped upstairs when an Algona officer, with assistance from a colleague from the Pacific Police Department, rushed to the scene. Together, they alerted the trapped residents to the fire and successfully evacuated them from the burning home just before local firefighters arrived.

Algona Police Chief James Schrimpsher commended the swift and professional response of the officers, highlighting the unpredictable nature of the duties of first responders. He also expressed gratitude to the Pacific Police Department and the Valley Regional Fire Authority for their collaborative efforts.

Although all residents were safely evacuated, two of them required hospitalization for fire-related injuries. The fire is believed to have originated from a food smoker.
