SOUNDBITE (English): JOSE RAMON CABANAS, Director of the International Policy Research Center of Cuba
"I think it's a large contribution (to the group). China was not a member originally of the group. It got close to the objective of the group later on, but China itself has developed several initiatives that are related in one way or the other with the aims of the group.
The Belt and Road Initiative, for 10 years you have had a large economy that is developing a kind of initiative that is not pressing on political issues. China is sharing what they have with other countries, with countries with a completely different approach in political terms. Then it's a relevant country in terms of multilateral affairs and also the approach in which they get closer to other regions and other countries as well."
