Brave residents caught a huge python that was flushed out by floods in the Philippines.

Locals living near a canal were shocked when they discovered the large snake slithering inside a home in Angeles City, Pampanga province on September 13.

Footage shows the homeowners wrangling the beast into a sack as terrified onlookers screamed. It is believed to have been swept into the residential area by recent floods.

A different snake had earlier been caught in the same area then sealed inside a water jug.

Resident Kimberly de Jesus, who lives next door, said: 'I couldn't help but curse because of how large the snake was. It must have been washed away here because of the heavy rain.'

The snake was handed over to village officials to be released into the wilderness.

The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.

The Philippines and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
