Footage shows Russian attack helicopters taking out Ukrainian positions and military vehicles on the frontlines.

The images show a Russian attack helicopter being prepared for takeoff before it can be seen taking to the skies. The gunship can then be seen flying low over countryside before firing its ordnance at unseen targets.

The images then cut to grainy images appearing to show a number of explosions, reportedly on the Ukrainian positions.

The footage then shows a Russian gunship opening fire on unseen targets before appearing to return to base.

The video was obtained from the Russian Ministry of Defense on Tuesday September 19, along with a statement claiming: 'The crews of the Ka-52 attack and reconnaissance helicopters from the Central Military District have destroyed enemy armored vehicles and a Ukrainian nationalist stronghold in the Krasnolimansky direction of the special military operation.

'Upon receiving target coordinates, the pilots of the Ka-52 attack helicopters approach the combat zone at a speed of approximately 250 kph. Using the 'Vikhr-M' anti-tank missile system, the crews accurately strike enemy combat armoured vehicles.

'Additionally, unguided aviation rockets S-8 are used to target enemy personnel and area targets, such as enemy strongholds, with dive-bombing attacks. After completing the combat mission, the Ka-52 helicopters perform anti-missile manoeuvres and return to their home airfields.

'The command of the Russian troops' group notes the high efficiency of the Ka-52 helicopter crews from the aviation unit of the Central Military District, who have successfully completed over a hundred combat missions during the special military operation.'

Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation.'
