Heroic neighbours caught a girl falling from the third floor of a building in eastern China.

The video was filmed in the county of Guanyun in Jiangsu Province on September 10.

Several neighbours held a quilt under a building to catch a girl who suddenly fell down.

A witness named Wang Zheng said he and his wife were making dumplings at home. Suddenly, cries for help sounded from outside. Wang immediately ran downstairs and rushed to the scene. Looking up, he saw a child, hands gripping the window sill, tiptoes perched precariously on the edge of the glass, hanging outside the window of the third floor of the building.

Wang quickly positioned himself below the girl, arms outstretched in a ready-to-catch pose. He directed residents on the ground floor to retract the clothes rack they had extended outwards and simultaneously yelled for his wife to bring a quilt.

As soon as the quilt was brought over, Wang, with the help of a few residents, stretched it taut by its corners to form a soft cushion. Shortly after, the girl landed safely on the quilt.

According to reports, the girl was at home with her grandmother on that day. The grandmother, due to a momentary lapse of attention, didn’t notice the child climbing out of the window.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
