A deadly cobra snake leapt out at a father as he walked through the driveway of his home.

Rence Aquino, 38, was heading to the door from the garage when he found the venomous serpent coiled in the corner in Pampanga province, the Philippines, on August 29.

CCTV footage shows Rence unwittingly walking past the reptile that was only about a foot away from him while their pet tabby cat blocked it from further entering.

The resident fled when he spotted the animal with the feline and snake leaving in opposite directions.

Rescuers were later called to the property and caught the cobra before it was safely released without anyone hurt.

Cobras are responsible for the majority of snakebite deaths in the Philippines, as they are found throughout the country. Their powerful venom has the ability to kill 11 humans with a single bite, although they are very shy.
