STORYLINE:
An international Tai Chi contest was held recently in Jiaozuo City of central China's Henan Province, attracting more than 2,600 Tai Chi practitioners from 31 countries and regions.
SOUNDBITE 1 (English): KAI HARTMANN, Contestant from Germany
"I like Tai Chi because it teaches you on the one time to be relaxed, but also in the next move to be powerful and fast. And I think that will also help for the Kung Fu training later. And from all the experience I have here in China, here in Jiaozuo, I will take the experience back home to my country and try to teach people there Tai Chi."
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): DIONYSIOS PARASCHOS, Contestant from Greece
"It will be very good for your physical body, and because of the meditation part of this practice, it makes me relax. I came to China five months ago and I started practicing Tai Chi five months ago. I really enjoy it. And I will continue to practice in my country also."
SOUNDBITE 3 (English): FELICITY POWELL, Contestant from New Zealand
"I'm really glad that I got to learn Tai Chi. It's an art that I really didn't think about. It's given me a lot of learning and new skills, and patience and balance and strength. I will try to participate in my community and encourage more people to get involved with Tai Chi and learn this art."
Tai Chi, a kind of Chinese traditional martial arts, has been listed as intangible cultural heritage of humanity by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
It has reached more than 150 countries and regions with hundreds of millions of practitioners.
