Ganesha Chaturthi is one of the biggest festivals celebrated in Mumbai. The city comes alive with colorful decorations and grand processions. Mumbai has a rich cultural history and the festival of Ganesha Chaturthi is celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm by people of all castes, religions, and ages.

Ganesh Chaturthi celebrates the birth of Ganesha, the elephant-headed god of wisdom and prosperity in Hindu mythology, who is also recognized as the god of new beginnings and the remover of obstacles. The festival is celebrated for a period of 10 days. This year Ganesh Chaturthi starts on Tuesday.

Hundreds of thousands of devotees visited the famous pandals in Mumbai and celebrated the festival today. Ganesh Galli Cha Raja is one of Mumbai's oldest and most renowned Ganpati pandals, established in 1928. This year the organisers have created a replica of the Raigad Fort to mark the 350th year of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj's coronation. Lalbaugcha Raja is among the oldest and most famous Ganesha idols in the city. The idol is believed to fulfill the wishes of all devotees who visit it.
