Dramatic footage from China of a firefighter jumping off the first floor of a building and escaping after his suit caught fire.

In the video, captured by a witness in a residential area in Hubei Province on Thursday, the fireman is trying to grab a hosepipe at the window of the burning room when his clothes suddenly go up in flames.

He then quickly jumps onto the drain pipe at the corner before falling to the ground, as worried witnesses shout and scream from the ground.

According to news reports, the brave man escaped with a few burns on his hands and there were no other injuries in the accident as the room was only used for storage.

An investigation is being carried out into the cause of the fire.
