Dramatic footage has emerged from China of a police officer trapped outside a tricycle being dragged for 800 metres before saved by a car that forced the tricycle to stop.

In the video, partially captured on the dashboard camera of the helpful car in Hubei Province last week, the officer can be seen dangling at the left side of the scooter which runs at a high speed. The black car follows them for hundreds of metres before finally manages to stop the tricycle at the roadside.

According to news reports, the officer Zou Bingyang was asking the female tricycle rider for a check while she refused to respond and tried to run away. Mr Zou suffered injuries around the body but luckily recovered after being hospitalised.

The tricycle rider is reportedly in custody pending further investigation.
