Within the framework of Mary-Claire King's historic visit to the country and the celebrations for 40 years of democracy, the American geneticist and one of the creators of the Grandparents Index participated this afternoon in a tribute with authorities, Grandmothers and granddaughters and grandsons recovered in the auditorium of the Cultural Center of Science (C3). The scientist had not traveled to Argentina since the 1980s, when the first identity tests began and it was scientifically proven that the Grandmothers' grandchildren were hers. During the event, the “Mary-Claire King” distinction was presented to the Grandmothers of Plaza de Mayo Association, created by CONICET on this occasion.
