STORYLINE:

A group of 22 journalists from 14 countries concluded a trip to China's Xinjiang on Wednesday.

The trip started on Sept. 12. The journalists from 17 foreign media organizations have visited various places in Xinjiang, including the regional capital of Urumqi, the city of Turpan and Kashgar Prefecture.

SOUNDBITE 1 (English): JUDAHNISSI CALABROSO, Journalist with the Philippines' SMNI TV Station
"It is a really secure, peace and order (region), and their rich culture like we've seen in the museum earlier, it's really nice to see your preserve."

During the trip, they had a first-hand experience of the development and diverse culture in Xinjiang.

SOUNDBITE 2 (English): MAXIM CHEREVIK, Editor of the Information Telegraph Agency of Russia (ITAR-TASS)
"I see a region which is very dynamic. It's developing at a very fast pace, and I think that the Chinese government does really a lot to invest in this region, to create new jobs, to give opportunities to the local people, to support local cultures. It seems to me it (the government) does quite a lot for the region to realize its full potential."

Since ancient times, Xinjiang has been a region where diverse cultures meet.

SOUNDBITE 3 (English): SAKALASOORIYA, Editor from the Daily Mirror in Sri Lanka
"This is my first time to Xinjiang. I have been to other parts of China, I can see a lot more culture (here), my impression that I got here is that it's very peaceful and very stable, and people seem to be happy living their life. We went to a lot of museums, so it shows the government's effort to preserve the culture and traditions of the people here."
