Fatal Collision in Long Eaton Prompts Investigation and Traffic Disruption. In the early hours of this morning, a fatal collision involving a motorbike sent shockwaves through the Long Eaton community.

The collision took place near several schools, raising concerns for the safety of parents and students in the area. In response to the incident, authorities initiated a collision investigation, temporarily closing several roads surrounding Wilsthorpe island to conduct a thorough examination of the scene.

The road closures resulted in significant traffic disruptions, leaving parents and students alike facing traffic misery as they struggled to reach their destinations. Commuters and school-goers were urged to seek alternative routes while the investigation was underway.

After hours of diligent work by the collision investigation team, the affected roads have now been reopened.

Derbyshire Police have said in a statement - We were called just after 2.20am on Friday 22 September to a report of a collision in Wilsthorpe Road, Long Eaton.

A yellow and blue Honda motorcycle had collided with a roundabout.

The rider of the motorbike, a man in his 20s, was taken to hospital in a critical condition but died a short time later.

The family of the man are aware and are being supported by specialist officers.

As a result of the collision, the roundabout at the junction of the B6002 and B6005 was closed but reopened just before 9am.
