A pedestrian was electrocuted by exposed cables on a pavement during a storm in Bangkok, Thailand.

The man had been walking along the city's Thonglor area, but was knocked unconscious when he was zapped by the fallen cables amid a downpour on September 21.

Passers-by who saw the unconscious pedestrian moved the live wires away from his body using an umbrella, then dragged him toward a building.

As one of the group called for help, they were seen trying to shake the man awake. An ambulance later took him to a nearby hospital.

An onlooker said: 'The electrocuted man is safe now, but he is still in the hospital with burns on his neck and face. Authorities found the exposed cables at the scene and have replaced them.'

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
