A government office building car park has 66 units with universal EV chargers in Thailand.

Footage shows the interior of EV Charging Floor establishment where dozens of drivers could power up their electric vehicles at the same time in Nonthaburi, Thailand.

EV Charging Floor is a collaboration project between the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and 11 car companies, including Audi, BMW, BYD, GWM, Lexus, Mercedes Benz, MG, Mitsubishi, NETA, Nissan, and Toyota, to promote EV models.

The charging stations are maintained by EGAT's service-providing arm EleX which works to make sure there are available charging points for drivers across the country.

EGAT's governor Boonyanit Wongrukmit said at the opening ceremony: ‘The EV Charging Floor was created to support and build confidence for our staff to use more electric vehicles.'

The entire second floor of the parking lot was turned into EV charging station with 66 chargers equipped with 7.4 kW AC Normal Charge technology for 110 parking spaces.'

The project was a prototype model for organisations that would be interested to add to their buildings, offices, and parking lots.

Boonyarit added that EGAT currently has 104 EleX by EGAT charging stations and plans to reach 150 stations within the end of 2023 for EV users to travel around the country with ease.

Electric vehicles (EVs) are gaining popularity across the world amid rising fuel prices, government incentives, rising supply and a political push for lower carbon emissions.
