A lion suddenly attacked a tamer during a circus performance in northern China.

The shocking video was filmed in Dongning City in Heilongjiang Province on September 22.

According to eyewitnesses, "When the two lions were released, a male lion came out first and circled the female lion. At that moment, both lions were together, and the keeper had to intervene with a stick to separate them. The male lion then turned on the tamer, causing chaos in the cage, and frightened spectators fled."

On September 23, the Mayor of Suining Town stated that the circus had received approval for their performance in the area, and the tamer was not bitten by the lion but suffered injuries to the arm.

The performance was immediately halted that evening, and the circus was required to issue refunds to the audience. The circus has since dismantled its performance area and left Suining Town.

The video was provided by local media with permission.
