A smart ragdoll cat named Bu Guai was captured unlocking a door in China.

The video was filmed in the city of Changsha in Hunan Province on September 11.

Ms Cai, the filmer, had thought she’d outsmarted her feline friend by installing a plastic lid over the lock to prevent any unsupervised adventures.

However, the cat left Cai and netizens astounded when, after a few focused attempts and careful observations, it managed to deftly manoeuvre through the flap and triumphantly open the door again with notable ease.

The battle of wits between Bu Guai and Cai began one day in February when this ingenious self-taught cat discovered how to open the door. Since then, Cai has been engaged in an ongoing effort to devise more complex barriers to contain the spirited and clever cat, preventing it from leaving the confines of the house on its whims.

Amused netizens were quick to note the peeling paint underneath the door lock, evidencing the hyper-intelligent cat’s persistent endeavours to master the lock.

According to Cai, these are indeed the marks left behind by Bu Guai's relentless efforts to crack the door.

To prevent the cat from opening doors on its own, the filmer, Ms.Cai, had installed a plastic flip lid on the lock. The video showed her gleefully watching the cat observing the door and making whine-like purrs.

But to her surprise, after staring at the door for a while and a few attempts, the cat nimbly gets through the gap in the flap and opens the door again with ease.

This clever self-taught cat, Bu Guai, learned to open the gate door one day in February and Ms.Cai is still trying more ways to confront the canine to keep it from leaving the house.
