Payroll Specialist Adam Smith, 29, from Edinburgh, Scotland captured an intense argument between a bus driver and an abusive and disorderly woman in Glasgow.

The bus driver won praise online with the video attracting 6.5M views on TikTok, with comments such as "Right on man", "Very well done", "Good on you!", and "That awkward silence after’.

Adam was on the Number 26 McGills bus towards Nethercraigs in Paisley when a woman got on in Govan while Adam boarded in Glasgow town centre.

The filmer claimed the woman was drunk at the time.

The woman started to hold up the bus service as she didn’t have the right amount of change for the bus ride and started to harass passengers on the bus for the additional fare amount until one helpful stranger gave her the extra money.

Once on the bus, the disorderly woman noticed an autistic woman in a wheelchair talking to a woman and her baby, and decided to berate the woman in the wheelchair, telling her to leave the other passengers alone as they weren’t interested in talking to her.

This prompted the woman in the wheelchair to argue back about the fact that she was perfectly entitled to have a conversation with the other passenger.

This argument spurred the bus driver to pull over and get involved himself, shouting at the disorderly woman that if she didn’t stop troubling the other passengers, she would be escorted off the bus service.

"The woman got on the bus in Govan and argued with the driver about the fare to Paisley,” he said.

“She didn’t have the right amount of change, and no access to banking cards, and was prohibiting the bus from moving by arguing over this.

“She then started asking people on the bus for change to get the right amount for her ticket.

“There was stunned silence until one volunteer came forward and gave her the necessary change.”

The argument started between the disorderly woman and the woman in the wheelchair seemingly out of nowhere according to Adam.

“The drunk woman was arguing because the woman in the wheelchair was talking to another passenger with a baby, she shouted at her to leave her alone, she said she wasn’t interested in talking to her,” he said.

“The woman in the wheelchair responded by saying she has a degree in social sciences and that she’s perfectly qualified to have a conversation, and that the other woman was not distressed by the conversation.

“The driver stopped the bus and told the woman that if she did not settle, he would have to throw her off.

“He told her that she was aggravating his passengers, she was aggravating him and making a lot of noise.

“After which she started to calm down.”

Although Adam got off at his stop before he could see the conclusion of the situation, he noted that he felt quite distressed and uncomfortable during the interaction, but the nature of the passengers after the altercation turned to jovial.

“I felt quite distressed and uncomfortable, I wasn’t sure if I would make it to my destination,” he said.

“I’d previously left my airpods in a restaurant that’s on the bus route so I was keen to make it there.

“As both passengers began to unsettle each other as the two women antagonised one another which resulted in a further disruption to the service.

“Unfortunately I got off before her so I never saw the outcome of her actions upon her arrival at Paisley, or if she indeed made her stop.

“Generally the mood on the bus was one of hilarity. Other passengers were also pointing out her behaviour and finding it amusing.”
