Farmer uses cool tree-climbing equipment for coconut harvesting
A farmer used a cool tree-climbing machine to reach and harvest coconuts safely.
Footage shows the man riding the piece of metal equipment, which gripped into the trunk through his weight, at a plantation in Maha Sarakham province, Thailand, on September 10.
He slowly ascended the 20ft-tall tree by alternately raising the tool up that had its own seat and footrest.
The farmer then plucked the fruit using a stick while staying safe because of the tree-climbing equipment.
Thailand is one of the world's leading producers of coconuts. In 2021, the tropical country produced more than 1.1 million metric tonnes of fruit, harvested with farmers climbing up the giant trees while other plantations 'employ' monkeys which they train to work for them.
