Tourists were evacuated when a hotel raft sank on the River Kwai in Kanchanaburi, western Thailand.

Guests scrambled to flee the lodging as it began tilting while floating on a pontoon platform on September 24.

Footage shows the entire wooden building leaning to one side as it started to capsize, with its roof nearly hitting another floating cottage.

Hotel owner Kasikorn said: 'I apologise to the customers. I did not expect this to happen, but we were able to salvage the raft. No one was injured or harmed.'

He added that the platform did not sink, but the hotel raft began to tip over when water leaked into the building.

The excess water has been pumped out, and operations at the hotel have returned to normal, Kasikorn said.

The River Kwai was where Japanese warmongers forced prisoners of war to build a bridge for the Death Railway during World War II.
