A quick-thinking security saved a collapsing marathon runner at the finish line in eastern China.

The heroic video was filmed in Dezhou City in Shandong Province on September 24.

A female participant experienced a sudden medical incident just before the finish line. The dedicated security personnel, including Mr Hou, swiftly swooped in to support her as she nearly collapsed, carrying her over the finish line and immediately placing her on a stretcher.

Hou detailed that they noticed the woman stumbling as she was running, her feet losing grip. Recognising the signs of oxygen deprivation and understanding that her body had likely reached its limits, he and his colleagues rushed to her aid, transferring her to medical staff for treatment before resuming their duties of maintaining order at the event.

Marathon officials conveyed that the woman lost consciousness at the time but was allowed to leave after rest and observation confirmed no severe complications.

On September 25, the marathon runner stated that she had recovered after resting for half an hour and was experiencing no issues.

9月25日，当事马拉松女选手称，休息半小时后身体已经恢复，目前没有什么问题。并称在马拉松比赛中，跑到最后肯定是想坚持比赛完，但她也建议跑友在比赛中如果身体有任何不适，一定要休息一下再跑。 北京大学人民医院骨关节科主任医师林剑浩分析称，出现这一情况的原因可能是脑缺氧或心脏供血不足。他建议，参加马拉松的选手应留意身体发出的信号，出现眩晕、打颤等不适应及时中止以免意外发生。
