A resident calmly caught a baby python coiled around the porch ceiling using a mop.

Footage shows the old man, whom relatives call Uncle Chai, poking the reptile off the structure before it fell to the floor and was picked up in Nonthaburi province, Thailand, on September 14.

Relative Chutima Jaimon said: 'I want to thank Uncle Chai because he was so brave. He came and caught the snake for me.'

The reticulated python is found throughout Southeast Asia, where they live in forests, swamps, canals and even in cities, causing them to come into conflict with humans. The species is one of the world's largest snakes and can eat humans, cats, dogs, birds, rats and other snakes.
