Duplex Fire, Spruce Street, Kulpmont, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania

Two Kulpmont homes were left uninhabitable following a fire that started in the basement of a vacant property on Spruce Street Sunday evening.
17:31 hrs. Northumberland County Communications Center dispatched a working structure fire at 943 Spruce Street, Kulpmont, Pa. The first in unites found a smoke filled 1st with smoke on both sides of the duplex. It was quickly determined that a fire in the wall emanating from the adjoining duplex at 941 Spruce Street.

The fire department made am interior attack after discovering fire in the wall spread to both the 1st and 2nd division of side “A” of the structure.

Chief Kevin O’Hearn Kulpmont Fire confirmed that the residents of 943 Spruce St. believed the fire to be electrical and turned off their main power line prior to calling 911. This was later confirmed as the breaker box was destroyed in the blaze.
Two female residents were transported one with minor injuries to her hand and a second one for evaluation.
