Heavy rain caused knee-deep flash floods in Bangkok, Thailand on Tuesday.

Footage shows vehicles battling through the deluge swamping a road near the city's Udom Suk intersection on September 26 evening.

The water had also spilled onto the sidewalk, causing difficulties for pedestrians.

The Bangna District Office dispatched a pick-up truck to assist stranded locals near the Udom Suk BTS station and ferry them to their homes.

The Thai Meteorological Department said a moderate monsoon trough was prevailing across Thailand's lower north, upper central, and northeast regions.

It said isolated heavy rains were expected in central Thailand, including Bangkok and its vicinity, as well as the country's eatern coast.

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
