The Chinese Embassy in South Africa held a reception Friday evening to mark the upcoming 74th founding anniversary of the People's Republic of China (PRC).
Li Zhigang, Charge d'affaires of the Chinese Embassy in South Africa, and Patricia de Lille, South Africa's Minister of Tourism, delivered speeches respectively at the event, hailing the ties and friendship between the two countries.

"Best wishes on the occasion of the 74th anniversary of (the founding of) the People's Republic of China. We take very seriously these 74 years because they've tried and tested years of the pursuit of socialist development and China is an important beacon of hope in politics of the pursuit of a different economic developmental agenda to the Western imperialist path that prioritizes the markets at the forefront of human development. The Chinese have proven that the state can play a central role in the economic planning of a clear path out of underdevelopment, out of poverty in a scientific and modern way."
