Massive king cobra snake found down the side of family's bed
A massive king cobra snake was found hiding down the side of a family's bed.
The 12ft-long killer serpent was discovered by the terrified residents when they heard it hissing inside their room in Chanthaburi province, eastern Thailand, on September 21.
Footage shows a reptile catcher wearing a headlamp to light up the dark corner of the bedroom as he and his colleagues caught the deadly reptile - which has enough venom to end a man's life in under an hour.
The experienced wildlife handler used a metal catching tool to secure the cobra's neck and prevent it from lunging at them but carried the snake out with bare hands.
No one was hurt and the snake was taken to the rescuers' facility before it was released in the wild.
Researchers found that 7,000 people are treated for snake bites each year in Thailand. Suchai Suteparuk from the Division of Toxicology at Chulalongkorn University reported that 30 of those die, with cobras being the biggest killer.
