Ukrainian troops shoot down Russian UAVs during night-time defensive operation
This dramatic footage shows Ukrainian troops striking Russian UAVs using German-made self-propelled anti-aircraft gun that can shoot down targets more than three miles away.
In the video, the Ukrainian Air Force Command is seen shooting down its target in the middle of the night amid a Russian attack carried out against territories in southern Ukraine on September 26.
The images were obtained from the Air Command 'Pivden' (South) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on Tuesday, September 26, along with the statement: 'The video depicts the combat operations of the "South" Air Command soldiers using strike UAVs 'Shahed-136/131' on the night of September 26, 2023, in the southern part of the country.
'The German 'Gepard' strikes accurately again!'
The Gepard was developed in 1976 and it is equipped with two Oerlikon KDA automatic guns capable of firing up to 1 100 rounds per minute, making it effective against air targets and even in battles with armored vehicles.
The images and statement were also relayed by the head of the Ukrainian President's office, Andriy Yermak, the Air Force Command of the UA Armed Forces, and the Office for Strategic Communications (StratCom) of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24, 2022, in what the Kremlin is still calling a 'special military operation'.
