Pedestrians fell into an uncovered hole during floods in the Philippines.

The locals were wading through the deluge when they plunged into the hole concealed by floods in Dagupan City, Pangasinan province, on September 22.

Passers-by helped the pair climb up onto the street.

Authorities said the road section had been broken to make way for the construction of a new canal in the area. They said they had placed warning signs around the hazard which were knocked down by the floods.

The Philippines and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon leading to widespread flash floods.
