A homeowner was terrified when a huge 8ft king cobra entered her house through the second-storey window.

Srisuda Panthong had been cleaning her home in Krabi, Thailand and had opened the windows for some ventilation when the deadly snake popped in to greet her on September 28.

Footage shows the venomous predator loitering on the sliding window while taking a peek inside Srisuda's house.

The alarmed resident called snake catchers, fearing the cobra might venture further inside.

The rescue volunteers used their tools to snare the reptile that had moved to Srisuda's balcony. They took its measurements, then put it inside a sack to be hauled back into the forest.

Srisuda said: 'The cobra may have come from the forest behind my house, then climbed up the durian tree next to my window. I was so scared when I saw it staring at me.'

Researchers found that 7,000 people are treated for snake bites each year in Thailand. Suchai Suteparuk from the Division of Toxicology at Chulalongkorn University reported that 30 of those die, with cobras being the biggest killer.
