A cement mixer toppled into a river while boarding a ship from a pier in Indonesia.

The mixer was being transported to the Pendalaman Baru village river pier construction site in South Kalimantan on September 27, but had trouble boarding the landing craft.

Footage shows the truck revving its engine as it struggled to drive over the incline at the dock in Barito Kuala.

With the mixer still on the ramp, the ship suddenly moved forward, while a panicked worker scrambled to tether it to the pier.

However, the ship kept drifting forward and caused the mixer to plunge into the Barito River.

The truck driver Dwi Gator Sukoco, 38, managed to escape through an open window.

Authorities later arrived to inspect the scene of the accident.

Senior Assistant Commissioner Diaz Sasongko, Head of the Barito Kuala Police, said: 'We are still investigating the cause of this incident, if there was negligence or other factors involved. There were no casualties.'
