Bizarre lotus leaf moves water like a mechanical fountain feature at Chinese garden pond
Video captured a remarkable natural fluke in the form of a lotus leaf in a Chinese garden that moved water around as it swayed under a stream of water.
The plant, shot on 20 August, resembled an extraordinary mechanical water feature but in fact was entirely natural.
The leaf, which was curved inwards, would catch water flowing from the mouth of a dragon head-shaped water outlet in the garden in Guangdong province.
The weight of the water would then cause it to sway to one side, which would cause the water to pour off the leaf and into the pool below.
Relieved of the weight of the water, the leaf would return to its original position, where it would fill with water again and repeat the same motions, over and over again.
