Family savours feast in car during holiday traffic jam on highway in China
A family enjoyed a feast in their car during the holiday traffic jam on a highway in southern China.
The video was filmed on the Guangzhou section of the Xuguan Expressway on September 28.
Mr Wu and his family embarked on a journey from Shenzhen City, Guangdong Province to their hometown in Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, to celebrate the double festivals of China’s National Day and Mid-Autumn Festival.
Their day began with high hopes, setting off at 9:00 in the morning. However, as the hours passed by, they found themselves still stuck in Guangdong Province at nearly 2:00 in the afternoon. With no village or store in sight, their situation was starting to look dire. Fortunately, they had the foresight to prepare a pot of food in the car.
Wu explained that they had anticipated the possibility of getting hungry during the long highway traffic jam. The previous night, they marinated beef tendons, chicken feet, and duck feet. They also brought along a high-pressure cooker and some rice. At a service area, they plugged in their cooker and prepared a fresh batch of rice. When the traffic came to a standstill, the family simply opened their makeshift car kitchen and enjoyed a hot meal together.
The video was provided by local media with permission.
