A fire ripped through three warehouses containing flammable chemicals in the Philippines on Thursday 28 September.

Drone footage shows the inferno ravaging the storage facilities in Valenzuela City, Manila.

The city's Bureau of Fire Protection said the blaze broke out at around 12:20 pm at the buildings housing assorted hardware materials and chemicals. It reached Task Force Bravo, meaning at least 40 firetrucks had responded to the scene.

Fire Senior Superintendent Douglas Guiyab, Camanava District Fire Marshal, said: 'The contents, the flammable materials hindered hindered us. The flames spread rapidly so we had to protect our personnel. We immediately retreated because of the behaviour of the fire. The structure was totally engulfed by fire due to the contents therein.'

Some 200 workers escaped, while 214 families, whose homes were separated from the warehouses by a firewall, were moved to four evacuation centres.

The local government said the fire has been brought under control at 9:28 am on September 29.

Authorities said its origin was under investigation, and it was believed to have caused an estimated 35 to 50 million PHP in structural damage.
