Stranded drivers played mahjong on a highway on the first day of dual festivals in China.

The funny video was filmed in the city of Hefei in Anhui Province on September 29.

A witness to this unexpected revelry, Ms Wang, recounted the events, citing an overwhelming volume of vehicles coupled with traffic accidents as the culprits behind the massive hold-up.

It took approximately six long hours before the traffic resumed its normal flow, Wang disclosed.

September 29 marked the commencement of the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holidays in the country.
