The explosion occurred in the Mastung district of the restive Balochistan province, as people celebrated the birthday of the Prophet Mohammed. At least 52 people were killed and dozens more wounded in what authorities believe was a suicide attack at a religious procession in southwest Pakistan Friday (29.09.2023).
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the explosion in Mastung.

Today, the Milad procession left Madani Masjid. After a short distance, a bomb exploded. We cannot confirm whether it was a suicide bomber or a hand grenade, or whether it was planted somewhere on the way. Many people have died and are seriously injured. Those who are injured have been sent to Quetta. The officials of Al-Khidmat Foundation have helped in time and have brought the injured to the hospital in their ambulance.

Two suicide blasts took place in the mosque in Du Aba police station today. Fortunately, one of the blasts happened at the gate, due to which the worshipers ran outside, due to which the number of dead is less. So far we have three dead and 12 injured. Our rescue operation is going on. Staff and ambulance arrived on time. Emergency is in effect in all hospitals across the district and timely assistance is being given to the injured.

After the explosion in the Mustang procession, thirty dead bodies were brought to us and around forty people are injured. Many people are injured who have been sent to different hospitals, in which seventeen people are admitted to DHQ hospital. About forty six people have died in this blast.
