"Congratulations, Basma. That's a really huge achievement. Today I'm gonna take you to the Hangzhou workmanship demonstration pavilion to experience some traditional Chinese culture associated with the mid-autumn festival. Let's go.
The Mid-Autumn Festival is actually one of the most important Chinese festivals. It dates back over 3,000 years ago. And on this day, people believe that the moon is at its brightest and the fullest. And the date also coincides with the harvest time in the middle of autumn. That's why it's called the Mid-Autumn Festival. On this day, people usually celebrate by going to family gatherings and gazing at the moon and also carrying lanterns.
So first up I want to take you to make some traditional Suzhou-style mooncakes."
SOUNDBITE 2 (Chinese): WU YING, Inheritor of Xiaoshan Guojiang Cloth (Intangible Cultural Heritage)
"What we do is plant dyeing. We use a dyeing technique that extracts pigments from flowers and plants."
STANDUP 3 (English): WU YAO, Xinhua correspondent
"So our last crafting project is making lotus lantern. Which part is your favorite? What do you feel about it?"
SOUNDBITE 3 (English): BASMA LACHKAR, Bruneian Taiji athlete
"I mean all of them are my favorite, but the most I think would be the mooncake. Even though it's a long process. I think I would be using the knowledge for the future to teach my friends and my family to be able to also um celebrate mid-autumn festival. "
