"My name is Adam. And guess where I am today? This is my first time in Chaozhou. Here's some of what I've seen in the last few days. This place has an incredibly ancient, fascinating history, culture, and traditions. So I've come to experience all myself.
Look at that - the ancient city of Chaozhou. It's clustered with architectural gems from the Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming, and Qing dynasties. It is like a living museum. And behind me is Guangji Tower, which has over 600 years of history. And inside, visitors can learn all about the past of Chaozhou. So let's go inside, have a look and learn.
Just beyond Guangji Tower lies Guangji Bridge, one of China's four great ancient bridges. Have you ever seen a bridge made by connecting boats? This one is over 800 years old. By day, it allows foot traffic and by night, the boats are removed to allow river access. What clever engineering. And I hear there's an amazing light show here at night as well.
It's so lively here. This street is called Paifang Street. Each archway represents a prominent local figure. All of the shops are decked out in festive decorations for the big festival coming up. Let's take a look around.
Walking down this street, I discovered Chaozhou has so many delicious foods, all preserving ancient traditions. Even if I was here for three days and three nights, there is no way that I can try everything.
Finally, we have arrived here at Zhenhai Tower. My feet are so sore from all that walking. Let's see what's going on on the stage. The Chaozhou tea is delicious. But I'm not here just for the tea. Big festivals in Chaozhou feature wonderful performances, such as authentic Chaoju opera. There's thunderous drumming, graceful carp dances, and traditional festivals, customs that have been going on for thousands of years.
It's a spectacular audiovisual feast conveying the deep hometown bonds of the Chaozhou people. No matter where they roam, tonight they celebrate as one.
That Chaoju opera and drumming was so cool. I'm going backstage now to find the performers."
