At least two people were injured and one person killed in a suspected suicide bombing outside government buildings in Ankara, Turkey on Sunday 1 October.

Shocking CCTV footage shows the alleged assailants arriving in a car in front of the Interior Ministry on October 1. One person was seen leaving the vehicle while wielding a gun before appearing to blow himself up near the building's security booth.

Two police officers were rushed to a hospital for non-life-threatening wounds.

The attack happened hours ahead of the reopening of parliament.

Turkey's Interior Ministry said the two suspects had killed a civilian and stolen his car to carry out the attack. One of them died in the blast, while another died in a shootout with police.

The Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK), a Kurdish armed guerrilla movement designated a terrorist group by Turkish authorities, has claimed responsibility for the bombing.

The Turkish Defence Ministry said in a statement that the government retaliated with airstrikes that destroyed 20 PKK target sites hours after the explosion.
