A woman stopped by at a roadside salon and had her nails done as flash flood swelled around her ankles.

Footage shows the customer enjoying a manicure session as a monsoon storm battered around them in Chonburi province, Thailand, on August 17.

The deluge had started rising into the spot where the tent had been set up, but she and the nail technician continued their session.

Her friend Narisaraporn Absanthia said the woman doesn't go out often and preferred to stay at home, so she was defiant to finish her beauty treatment despite the sudden bad weather.

She said: ‘I invited my introverted friend out for the first time in ages. She sat there, and then the heavy rain fell. We couldn't move to another place easily, so we just stayed until it stopped raining.'

Thailand and neighbouring countries in Southeast Asia are in their annual monsoon rainy season, which sees soaring temperatures followed by powerful rain storms in the afternoon, leading to widespread flash floods.
