A mother was seen riding a scooter with a toddler strapped to her chest and a pet dog resting by her feet.

Footage shows the brave parent cruising along the road with the youngster secured on her body with a baby carrier in Khon Kaen province, Thailand, on August 19.

She stopped by the red light with the other motorists and the pooch climbed down to rest under the shades of trees for a moment before they left when the traffic moved.

Thailand has one of the world's worst road safety records. Ministers have set the goal of reducing fatalities from 32.7 deaths per 100,000 people to 12 per 100,000 people by the year 2027.

However, a lack of road safety education in schools along with notoriously easy driving tests, police failures to enforce road laws, and chronic under-investment in infrastructure, all appear to hamper the efforts.
