A collective of political parties led by the Economic Freedom Fighters marched for more than ten kilometres through the streets of Cape Town against what they call illegal and unjust minibus taxi impounding by the City of Cape Town traffic police.

An impound yard filled with impounded mini bus taxis was surrounded by marchers dressed in EFF regalia demanding the immediate release of the vehicles.

The largely informal minibus taxi industry is responsible for transporting millions of passengers and owners claim they are being victimised by the City of Cape Town traffic police and law enforcement officers.

Recently a strike led by the taxi industry saw Cape Town crippled for days with violence and riots.
