A housewife unwittingly stepped on a huge cobra lurking inside her home.

The resident had just arrived at home carrying a poster she bought at the market but was unaware that a deadly snake had been slithering on the entryway in Ratchaburi province, Thailand, on September 27.

CCTV footage shows the woman removing her slippers as she walked into the living room before unknowingly stomping on the serpent two steps later.

The shocked housewife, alone in the house, ran for her life when she saw the venomous reptile on the floor. She called her family for help searching for the animal, but it has not been found on their property since.

Researchers found that 7,000 people are treated for snake bites each year in Thailand. Suchai Suteparuk from the Division of Toxicology at Chulalongkorn University reported that 30 of those die, with cobras being the biggest killer.
