Protesters camp outside Government House in Bangkok
Pro-democracy protestors camped outside Thailand's Government House this morning, demanding to meet with the Prime Minister.
Political activists from the P-Move group have been holding a protest in front of Gate 5 of the Government House in Bangkok since the evening of October 2.
The group is demanding to meet with new leader Srettha Thavisin to discuss nine basic rights, including housing rights, ethnic rights, land rights, social welfare, human rights, and democracy.
In their open letter, the group is demanding that the Prime Minister engage in negotiations to ensure progress on these nine basic rights, ultimately leading to approval in a cabinet meeting.
Additionally, they are demanding that the government refrain from using legal procedures to threaten, pressure, or file lawsuits against protestors who exercise their right to protest against the government.
They have declared that they will continue the protest indefinitely until they receive a satisfactory solution, as this issue has persisted through several governments.
P-Move stated that they made a declaration to Srettha on September 9 and also sent a letter to the government and opposition parties on September 11.
Srettha was chosen by the military to be the Prime Minister despite his party - run by controversial former Man City owner Thaksin Shinawatra - losing a national poll.
The widely-revered democratic winner Pita Limjaroenrat of the Move Forward party was suspended from politics amid a quasi-dictatorial army coop.
