Police have arrested a 14-year-old boy over a shopping mall shooting in which at least three people have been killed in Bangkok, Thailand, this afternoon.

Schoolboy Phasid Trutassanawin is alleged to have opened fire with a Glock 19 handgun inside the Siam Paragon building in the centre of the Thai capital shortly after 4pm local time.

At least four injured people were seen being carried from the mall shortly after. Police later said that at least three people had died.

Security guards were seen directing panic-stricken locals from the exit through the car park. Other shoppers were stuck inside the building - hiding inside shops with their shutters pulled down.

Police have now closed the building.

It comes almost a year to the day when gunman Panya Khamrab, 34, killed 36 people and injured 10 others in a rampage at a nursery in Nong Bua Lamphu province in the north of the country on October 6, 2022. He later turned a gun on himself during the spree.
